ZCubes : The browser, your home.

ZCubes is a new webservice that is creating quite a buzz. But for me it was only after I tried it personally did I felt the buzz. The slick interface combined with almost all the contents you could think of makes it a unique experience. And boy this ajaxian interface is fast enough unlike online OSs that I discussed earlier (YouOS, EyeOS).

As the site claims:

ZCubes is the world's first website that seamlessly integrates browsing, searching, editing, painting, freehand drawing, cursive hand-writing, audio-video media
management, publishing, and much more into a pure BROWSER-BASED PLATFORM.

I think it really is what it claims to be. You can browse, search, paint blah blah. But the feature that interested me most was the drag drop of images, youtube videos etc from the sites open inside ZBrowser. Yes, you can drag and drop any html element from the ZBrowser to what they call ZSpace, what if its an image or a link or just a paragraph. It claims to support upto 30 file formats, so you can integrate PDF, Shockwave, Powerpoint, Word, and more. You can save your work on hardisk or publish directly on web.

The service as I see has some future in this Web 2.0ish world where every now and then innovative solutions appear.

Yourminis = Flashy Netvibes

Yourminis resurrected the Flash world which in the recent past had its thunder stolen by the much hyped Ajax. It also widened the coverage of flash to include homepage content management and not only games and videos. Netvibes [earlier coverage here] implemented Ajax as its backbone to serve contents to the users in a highly customizable manner. Yourminis' also offering the same but with a backbone of flash which gives it an "elastic look", functions are more or less the same i.e. you can include feeds, mails ,podcasts, widgets etc etc. What remains to be seen is that who wins the battle or if we are fortunate this will simply give rise to a healthy competition and end users will be only one to get the cheers.

Netvibes - Unifying Web

The very first page that I got after entering the url http://www.netvibes.com/ to my surprise contained all my favorites. It was like whole of internet before you, and you are confused but amazed. The site boasts of providing everything and all customizable, it provides a tabbed interface where feeds, news,web searches , webmails, bookmarks , photo organizers, social networking, API search etc can be customized according to your taste. These all occurs in real time.

Google Suggest powers Firefox 2

The recent release of Firefox 2 web browser has included the Google Suggest ( which is built upon Ajax technology) feature into its toolbar. Not only this but now your Firefox can work as a calculator without you being pressing enter or equal to key. All we have to do is to key in the expression into the search toolbar. It looks like there is some implicit implementation feature of the calculator feature of Google Search.
